Maybe we should say Sit – Stay – Fetch! Even better yet, does your beloved pet have a favorite trick you want to share with the world? Pickens Animal Rescue is conducting it’s first ever “Pickens Stupid Tricks Contest” as a part of the upcoming 2008 Fur Ball. This fun part of the fundraiser gives you a chance to show off Fido as he performs his amazing feats.
The “Stupid Pet Tricks” concept is a late night favorite on David Letterman. People have been lined up to have their pets demonstrate their funny and sometimes goofy tricks for decades, so why can’t we do that here at home? With the addition of YouTube on the internet, your home videos can be shared with the world. Taken with cell phones, digital cameras and video cameras of all sizes, anyone can show their stuff.
The video contest starts now through September 26th. Visit the new Fur Ball website www.pickensfurball.org for all the details. If your pet doesn’t have a trick to perform, you’ve got about 60 days to teach even your oldest dog a new trick! Once you’ve captured your pet doing their favorite trick, you’ll have to upload it to YouTube.com. Setting up an account is free and easy. Six of the Pet Trick videos submitted to us will be chosen as finalists in this contest and posted to the Fur Ball website before Oct 1st. Then the voting begins! Each $1.00 donation equals 1 vote for your favorite “Stupid Pet Trick”. Voting will continue through Oct. 24th. Voting will be done through the website and PayPal or in person at the new PAR Rescued Furniture Store on Main St. in Jasper. The winner (the video with the highest donations) will receive 2 tickets to the 2008 Fur Ball and round-trip limousine service the night of the event, provided by North Georgia Limousine.
The 2008 Fur Ball is November 1st at Appalachian Technical College. This year dinner is being catered by the Woodbridge Inn and music will be performed by Nashville Recording Artists, TelluRide. A Silent Auction will round out the fundraising part of the evening.
