This is the 4th Annual A Taste of Pickens, with all profits going to
Pickens’ food pantry, CARES
The 4th annual A Taste of Pickens was held on Saturday, November 14 from 11am to 2:30pm at the Appalachian Technical College in Jasper. What a beautiful day to be out and enjoying wonderful food and friendship! You could not have asked for a better day!
A Big THANK YOU goes out to all the restaurants, caterers, volunteers and to the people who purchased tickets!
26 restaurants and caterers joined together in one place to provide Pickens County residence and others foods that makes them the best of the best! There were soups and pastas dishes, home cooked, comfort foods like mom and grandma provided on Sunday afternoon, there were desserts galore and when you finished, you didn’t walk out – you waddled out!
What a great variety of foods and desserts - you had to make at least one or maybe two trips around the room before you started choosing because if you started choosing your dishes right away, by the time you made your first turn, you would have been out of tickets and out of luck – As the tables all around the room held some excellent food.
After two trips around the room, here is what I ended up choosing -
*The Last Catch – She Crab Soup w/ a splash of Sherry (they were also celebrating their 2nd year in business on this very day! Congrats!!!)
*61 Main – Drunken Mushrooms over Crusty Polenta
*Fireside Cafe’ and Pub – Spinach Cheese dish (yum yum)
*Teresa Fountain, Caterer – Pasta Salad
*Fuego Mexican Grill – Steak and Grilled Chicken Quesadilla/Taco Bar
*Mountainsides Grille @ Big Canoe – Baby Buttermilk Chicken & Buttermilk Pie
*Peking Garden – Chicken Fried Rice/Vegetable Egg Roll
*Mary’s Bread Basket – Red Velvet Cake
Oh my, everything was so very nice and I got to see and talk to a lot of good friends, whom I had not seen in a long time. It was great food and great friends to the max.
What a wonderful event to help the people of Pickens County by some many wonderful people. Thank You for your Support!!!
The next time you are out and about and looking for a good place to eat, try one of these restaurants – who were so very giving of their time and services. You will really be glad that you did.
61 Main Street, Ably Asian, Annie’s, Appalachia Grill, Bo Jangles, Bubba Q, Carriage House, Crust/Creme, Davis Bar-B-Q, Deb’s Bakery, Dos Margaritas, Fatz, Fireside Cafe and Pub, Forno Bar and Pizzeria, Teresa Fountain, Caterer, Fuego Mexican Grill, Johnny’s NY Pizza, Kroger, The Last Catch, Mary’s Bread Basket, Mexicali Joe’s BBA, Mountains Grille @ Big Canoe, Originals to Remember, Peking Garden, Pueblo Grill, Woodbridge Inn.

Beth,
Great Job. Thanks for taking the time to record this great community event. I was there, but I was too busy feeding my face to do anything this constructive. I will add a link to my web site. Keep up the good work.
Take care,
Don
