This morning, I was very busy at work getting ready for our 3-day work shop next week and trying to get payroll finished when my cell phone rang. I answered it and it was Peggy Edwards! I had met Peggy about a month or so ago at the Bent Tree Tennis Center where she was playing tennis as part of the Rally for the Cure which the Bent Tree Tennis Center and players were participating in. I was there taking photographs and videos of the players for my web site www.jasperpickenscountyga.com. I had mentioned to her at that time, if her group ever needed a sub, to call me.
Well here she was, calling me, on a day that I had NO time to play tennis, I mean I was so busy, it was unbelievable! And she was saying “one of our player’s family had an emergency and she is on her way to Piedmont in Atlanta to be with them, and we really need a person to fill her spot. I know this is last minute, but can you help us out?” It took me a half a second to answer “YES” as I had really been wanting to play some tennis for a while and I needed some stress relief!
I got my shoes and racket out, and they still fit and the strings were still tight, so I figured I was ready. At high noon, I’m at the Bent Tree Tennis Center, ready to play some tennis. The ladies were a blast to play tennis with. We played for about an hour and a half and we couldn’t have enjoyed ourselves more.
I told them to please think of me again when they needed a sub and I’ll be happy to be there.
The players today were Ursala Chapman, Debbie Hunter, Peggy Edwards and Beth Compton-
