by Rebecca Conn of Appalachian Country Magazine

It’s no wonder more and more people desire to live in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains. With an abundance of natural beauty, warm people and rustic mountain charm, our region offers a better way of life.

While some communities are developed strictly around nature, others are packed with amenities.

Exceptional amenities and the wonders of nature—Bent Tree has it all. It is an active gated community in the North Georgia Mountains that spreads out across 3,500 acres of rolling hills, coves, streams, cliffs, and waterfalls, reaching an altitude on Mt. Oglethorpe of 3,300 feet. Here you can relax and unwind with your loved ones. Bent Tree’s hiking trails lead you into the calm of nature where you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings, wildlife and the slower pace that comes from living in “the First Mountain Town” of Jasper, Ga. Approximately one hour from Atlanta, the community contains a mix of retirees, working families, and work-at-home or telecommuting professionals.

Bent Tree offers many group activities and a comprehensive array of amenities that include 110-acre Lake Tamarack with beach, playground, excellent fishing and boating. Unlike many communities around, Bent Tree is home to the Bent Tree Equestrian Center which offers lessons, boarding, trail and arena rides, horse shows, special events and summer camps. Bent Tree also includes a much acclaimed 18-hole golf course developed by renowned course designer Joe Lee, complete with practice range, putting green and practice bunker.

Life in Bent Tree is full of social events and activities available to residents. It is also convenient to the many charming local shops in Jasper and Ellijay. Residents are a short drive away from fall entertainment like the local Marble Festival and nearby Apple Festival. They also enjoy the peace of mind provided by their Public Safety Department. Manned 24/7, Bent Tree’s Security, Fire and Medical departments are on-site to handle any emergencies that may arise within the community.

Bent Tree is a beautiful place to live, but unfortunately, it does NOT have underground utilities…and most likely, it never will.
