Last night our little dog, Annie, and I went for a walk after dinner. We live in Bent Tree on a road that is pretty quiet, not many houses and even less traffic. My cell phone was charging and I said to myself , “I’m only going to walk a little way, so I don’t need my cell phone” but I did have my trusty camera and off we went. We walked about 2 blocks from the house and I said we would walk to the next street, then turn around.
As we were approaching the street, I heard a noise in the brush down below the road. I stopped and looked and saw something moving. I thought it might be a deer but when it moved a little more, I saw that it was black and a BEAR! (A Big Bear!). He was down below the grade of the road and didn’t see me and I know they say you shouldn’t run when you see a bear, but I promise, you are not thinking logically when you see a big bear!
I turned around and started running, Annie right beside me running too, thinking we were playing and having a good time. I got almost to my house and stopped and turned around to look back where we were, and there was that Big Bear standing at the corner of our road and the cross road, just looking at me. I did get my camera out to take a picture, but I was breathing so hard and I was so nervous, that the picture came out blury but you can still see the bear and tell how big he is. You can see the street sign beside him.
Thank goodness he didn’t come running after me, I don’t think I could have made it home…
