Epcot Center, Florida
On our last day in Florida, we decided to visit Epcot Center and check it out. I had never been…We drove over to Epcot, which was only about 25 minutes from our hotel, and parked. The temperature was about 90 degrees, and we needed to get a ‘fanny pack’ and hand sanitizer and then we were ready to ‘rock n’ roll’!!!
The first place we visited was Spaceship Earth where we stood in line for about 20 minutes. We rode through time from the supposedly ‘big bang theory’ to our day and time today. This was very good information that we tend to have forgotten from our school days but was great to see and remember once again today.
We left there and went to Universe of Energy where Ellen DeGeneres has a nightmare and we follow her back in time with Bill Nye, the Science Guy and learned with Ellen about energy and how it all came about. Its a cute show and would highly recommend you see this when at Epcot Center.
After that we went to see Mission: SPACE – this attraction is to tap into your inner astronaut as you blast into space without leaving earth!!! The Orange Team is the intense journey into space; be ready if you choose this mission, as it is truly intense. Ken and I chose the Orange Team Mission and it was wild! We would recommend this ride, only if you are a dare-devil, because it is totally awesome and is truly exhilarting.
We left there and decided to get something to eat. We had already checked out the Rose and Crown Pub for their Fish and Chips. We were able to sit in the Patio Seating area and view the lake and enjoy some quiet time. Our server, Adam, was from Manchester, England and he told us he was here on a visa for one year to work for Disney. One of the highlights he told us he was going to enjoy while here was to come to Atlanta and watch a wrestling match. He thought that was the greatest enjoyment for he and his mates!
Then it was on to the 2009 Food and Wine International Festival where The 7-week Festival will showcase tastes from countries on 6 continents – and we got to enjoy so many of the wonderful foods and drinks of the different countries all around. We were ‘grazing’ the countries…
The first thing we did was to get a glass of Bordeaux and a Cabernet from Paris, France.
We then went on to Marrakesh, Morocco where we had the Kefta, which is ground seasoned beef and spices in a pita pocket-yum, yum! and we enjoyed the Morocco Band – missed the dancer…
Next was to
Munich, Germany where we had the Apple Strudel with Vanilla Sauce – Oh My! This was so delicious!
During this time, we had gone through two rain storms and had actually had to purchase rain ponchos. So, if you are planning to visit Epcot Center, please be sure to bring a poncho, as you will need it, and bringing one will be much cheaper than ‘purchasing one’…
We watched an Italian Entertainment show where two gentlemen balanced chairs on wine bottles and the chairs went several feet high; it was totally amazing…then the rain came down and they got down from their high heights very quickly!
We visited Melbourne, Australia and had the Grilled Lamb Chop with Red Wine Sauce, Murray River Sea Salt and it was like, Oh My! This was truly a culinary experience. The red wine at this booth was excellent!
Next it was on to Rio de Janiero, Brazil where we enjoyed Shrimp Stew with Coconut and Lime and their red wine. Delicious!
We finally ended up at Wellington, New Zealand where we enjoyed one of my favorites, Seared Sea Scallop with Vegetable Slaw, Lemon Oil…and Ken had the Lamb Slider with Tomato Chutney. Golly, to know how to cook these wonderful dishes back home would be unbelivable…
We purchased a Hummingbird Eye Catcher Reflective Wind Spinner and a one of a kind (yah right) print that could have been signed by the artist but we would have had to leave it for him to sign and we would not have been able to pick it up until after 7pm that evening…we were out of there by about 5pm – tired as could be.
The experience was something that we’ll never forget and would recommend to anyone. Education, entertainment, experience…you get it all when you go to Epcot!!! Try it – You’ll Like It!!!
If you get to check out the 2009 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, you will love it!
Let is know if you are able to get to Epcot and tell us your experience!!!
