In memory of a very special person – this flower, at the beginning of spring, to show new life…In Heaven~ God Bless You Joe!

We will always be sadden by the news of Joe Rueffert being gone…an Icon in Jasper, Georgia. Even though Hans and Amy have taken over The Woodbridge Inn, which we are so glad that the Woodbridge Inn has stayed in the family, we are all sadden by the thought of Joe no longer being there…

I met Joe way back when, in about 1995, at a Mother’s Day or maybe a Father’s Day gathering at the restaurant. I had been living in Pickens County for about 4 years or so, but seemed to not venture away from the little area of Marble Hill, where I lived. But I had a good friend who wanted to have a family gathering at The Woodbridge Inn, so my family became a part. Dining at The Woodbridge Inn was such a delight. Something about being way out in our area of Pickens County, we did not seem to get out much, so going to the Woodbridge Inn was such a treat.

After that experience, and after getting into the real estate business, I realized what a treat it was to go to The Woodbridge Inn. I remember several monthly Pickens County Real Estate monthly sales meetings being held at the Woodbridge Inn. I also realized what a prize it was that Joe liked to carve different things out of the Georgia marble, so I would get my ‘unique’ closing gifts of marble vases, or wine holders, or napkin holders, etc from Joe. There was always a story. Joe loved to work and carve with the Georgia marble, no matter what.

My husband and I have purchased many unique pieces of Georgia marble from Joe, from the wine pieces, to candle holder, to many different pieces, and ship them all over the United States….they were always very special to the receiver, and will always hold a memorable spot in our hearts for Joe.

In 2008, Joe was precious enough to hold court to a article I was doing for my site about The Woodbridge Inn and Joe.  www.thewoodbridgeinn/joe. I learned a lot about The Woodbridge Inn during this article, how it came about and what really made it tick, the heartaches, and hardships that went through making the Woodbridge Inn what it is today.

I have so many memories of The Woodbridge Inn, OMGosh, so many things have just changed and so many things remain the same…but time goes on and we keep memories close to our hearts, especially the good memories.

God Bless Joe and His Family!
