Old Man Winter & Snow in North Georgia

Old Man Winter is holding on tight to North Georgia, not wanting to let go and let Spring come on in!

Can you imagine – here we thought going into March, we’d be looking at flowers popping up and buds coming out on the trees, making everything look green but no, Old Man Winter wanted to give us another cold, snowy blast! Today, March 2, 2010, we got about 4-6 inches of snow in Bent Tree.

I woke up about 12:30 or 1am this morning and just couldn’t sleep so I went downstairs. My trusty night companion, Ms Annie, came downstairs also so I let her out. There was no snow, no rain and the temperature was about 41 degrees…I went back upstairs about 2:30am and just before drifting off to sleep, I heard it start raining. When morning came, I asked my husband to look outside to see if it snowed. He said it did and still is…and it snowed all day long. It wasn’t until about 3pm that it stopped.

Today temperatures got up into the mid 30’s and the snow started melting, especially underneath the snow and on the roads, which now gives us another problem – Ice! The temperatures this evening are about 35 degrees and it looks like they are going to hover around 30 or so. It may or may not freeze, let’s hope it doesn’t.

This snow has been the prettiest that we’ve had so far. It was really wet and covered the sides of the trees and branches, tables and fences, and just looked beautiful! I thought I would share a few photos of our Snow Wonderland!

Now that’s what I call a real snowfall!! It was actually a beautiful sunny day here in South Bend, IN with a lot of the snow melting. I’m thinking Spring is right around the corner but I know we are still in for a lot more snow. In fact here in our area we’ll have snow well into April. Ugh!! Good pictures!!
