Sponsored by the Pickens High School CTI Club, (career and technical instruction), a small group of students and adults gathered up supplies and gave their time to make Christmas Lighthouses to give to the Pickens County Nursing Home residents. Whitney Clark, Kasey Parker, Doug Clark, Connie Cagle, CTI Instructor and Christie Clark aka Mrs. Clause all gave their time to make these Christmas Lighthouses and deliver them around Pickens County. All together, there were around 176 light houses made and delivered.

When asked of Whitney, Why did you do this? How did it make you feel? This was her reply: ‘The Christmas Lighthouses were for the residence to sit in their rooms to let them know we were thinking about them during Christmas.  We wanted to bring Christmas cheer to the Pickens County Nursing home residents. We are very thankful for what we have and always try to count our blessings. We should not take life for granted. Just seeing the smiles on their faces reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas!’

The group checked out several places in Pickens County to buy the craft supplies for the Christmas Lighthouses. If you want to make your own Christmas Lighthouse, check out the information:

Craft Supplies for light houses:

~ Empty thread cone spools
~ Model car paints
~ Water bottle spout or the spout from liquid dish soap
~ Small piece of craft fun foam, felt or cardboard
~ Christmas flowers or any flower and leaf

The following Nursing Homes were visited: Grandveiw Health Care, Serenity Mountain Manor, Wildwood Health Care Center, and Mountainside Nursing Home

The buying of the arts and craft supplied and having a little fun!
