Ice and Snow Finally gone on Jan 31st

January has been a month for snow and ice here in the North Georgia Mountains. And the temperatures have been down right cold! Now we know its winter but the average winter temperatures in Metro Atlanta are about 55 degrees. The weather does get cold but usually its cold for a few days then it warms back up. I believe we’ve had more cold days than normal since the first snow fall in early December.

We just had a round of ice and a dusting of snow this weekend. Friday we came back from North Carolina and were not home more than 2 hours or so when the sleet started. By Saturday we had a frozen deck and driveway. We sure were not going anywhere. Glad to have plenty of food, bird seed for the birds and firewood. We were just thrilled that the electricity and the internet didn’t go out…could you imagine!

I got a few pictures of the ice and snow and the views as we went through the weekend. If you have pictures you would like to share, please send them to beth@jasperpickenscountyga.com and I’ll be more than happy to include them on this site.
