I have good friends here in Jasper, Susan and Jeff Catton, whose son just wrote a book on addiction. Included in this post is the information on Luke’s book so if you or someone you know has an addiction, they should definitely read this article and purchase Luke’s book…Thank You Susan for getting Luke’s information to me.

Drug rehab expert and addiction book author Lucas A Catton has set forth on an unenviable task – to get people and governments to actually expect results in the addiction treatment field. The most difficult part of this is that most people were falsely led to believe that addiction is an incurable disease treatable with pharmaceuticals and that relapse is a part of recovery, so rehabs aren’t held to any sort of standard for cure rates.

The book is called, The New Face of Recovery: Unlabeling Addiction as a Disease and Finding Treatments that Work. It is an easy-to-read book that gets straight to the point but with plenty of examples to back up claims made, such as other notable figures or institutions that have spoken out about the fact that there has never been any sort of test or proof of addiction being an incurable brain disease.
